Reach A Regulator

Privacy policy

Last updated: July 2026

The short version: you can use this entire site without giving us anything. The only personal information we ever collect is what you type into the optional "track my complaint" form. We use it to send you a follow-up email, we never sell it, and we delete it on request.

What we collect

Nothing, if you just read the site

Browsing pages, using the regulator finder, and clicking through to an agency's complaint form require no account and no personal information. The finder runs entirely in your browser — your category and state selections are never sent to us.

The optional complaint-tracking form

If you choose to fill in that form, we receive:

  • Your email address (required, so we can send the follow-up)
  • The date you filed, and the amount at stake as a broad range
  • The state, category, and regulator the page was about
  • A short description of your complaint, if you write one (optional, 250 characters)
  • Your consent to receive follow-up emails

Please don't include account numbers, Social Security numbers, medical details, or anything else sensitive in the description box. We don't need it, and we'd rather not hold it. One or two sentences is plenty.

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics that count page views without cookies and without building a profile of you. We do not use Google Analytics, we do not run advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share traffic data.

Why we collect it

  • To send you a follow-up. About 45 days after you file, we email to ask how it went. Complaints stall when nobody follows up, so this reminder is the main point.
  • To publish aggregate outcomes. Numbers like "people who told us their outcome recovered $X in total" help other people decide a small dispute is worth pursuing. These are always aggregate counts and totals.
  • To find bad data. If several people report that an agency's form is broken, we go fix the page.

What we never do

  • We never sell or rent your email address or any other personal information.
  • We never publish your name, email, or the details of your specific complaint.
  • We never send your information to the company you complained about, or to the regulator. We are not part of your complaint — you file that directly with the agency.
  • We never use your information to advertise to you.

Testimonials

The follow-up email asks whether you would be willing to have your story quoted. That is opt-in and separate. If you don't check that box, nothing you wrote is ever published, in any form that could identify you.

Who else can see it

We use third-party services to host this site, receive form submissions, store responses, and send email. They process this information on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments, and they are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. We do not share your information with anyone else except where we are legally required to.

How long we keep it

We keep tracking-form submissions for up to two years after your follow-up is complete, then delete the identifying parts. Aggregate statistics that cannot identify anyone may be kept indefinitely. If you never respond to the follow-up, we delete your entry within one year.

Your choices

  • Don't fill in the form. It's genuinely optional — the site works exactly the same without it.
  • Ask for a copy. Email us and we'll send you everything we hold about you.
  • Ask us to delete it. Email us and we'll delete your entry, usually within a few days. You don't need to give a reason.
  • Unsubscribe. Every follow-up email has an unsubscribe link, and we stop immediately.

For any of these, email hello@reacharegulator.com from the address you gave us, or tell us which address to look up.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes to how we use information already collected will be sent to people who gave us an email address.
